Costs
I offer a free, no obligation, consultation of up to one hours to discuss your needs and to go through any previous research with you. The time it will take to cary out your research depends on how much you would like to know and what information is available.

All costs will be agreed with you in advance of them being incurred.
Except for fixed price packages, my costs are as follows:

An hourly rate of £20 which includes research, analysis, report compilation and time spent communicating with you by telephone, mail or email.

The report can be provided electronically in .pdf format. If printed and delivered in a report folder, the price is £10. A spring bound hardback folder is £20.

I do not charge travel costs to the archive I normally cover, (ie. Essex Record Office, Suffolk Archives (Bury St. Edmunds) and Cambridgeshire Archives). For Visits to other archives and location I charge the standard current HMRC milage rate of 40p per mile plus parking, or train fare as appropriate.

Birth, marriage and death certificates are provided at the cost charged by the General Register office. Currently these are priced at £11 each, although most birth or death certificates can also be obtained digitally for £7 each if you prefer.

Photocopying charges at archives are charged at cost. If the archives requires a photography permit, this is also chargeable at the archives' cost

Copying or downloading of documents from online sources is charged at cost, and there is also a cost of paying for any units required for access to certain websites where I do not hold a subscription. Generally, these are specialist sites
